Glamis Hall and the Wellingborough Climate Action Project (WCAP) have been awarded a £31,209 grant by North Northamptonshire Council via the Government's UK Shared Prosperity Fund to provide adult learning courses in the areas of 'green skills' and skills to fulfil local need in order to help people into work or to find alternative work.
 
We are excited to launch the first courses in our 'Skills for sustainable living and working' programme which runs until 31st March 2025. This programme is delivered via a network of community organisations and individuals.
 
The courses in this first tranche are:
  • An introduction to energy efficiency measures (EEMs) - improving the energy efficiency of your home
  • Climate emergency awareness/carbon literacy
  • Introduction to crafting eco-jewellery from waste materials
  • Introduction to sewing - hand stitching (sewing for beginners)
  • Introduction to sewing - using a sewing machine
  • Introduction to sustainable heating options
  • Learning to cook on a budget - waste to taste (includes gluten free and vegan)
  • Sustainability awareness and preparing for action
  • Understanding energy efficiency, energy generation grants and support
  • Understanding green energy generation options
  • Understanding how to plan a whole house retrofit
  • Understanding insulation options
